Bree,
This installment schedule feature does not incorporate a down payment approach similar to how a store product can be purchased but I will keep this in mind for future updates. Is this a high volume membership for your organization? I would like to understand how much manual work is involved given the volume.
Thanks.

We're in the same position as J. Hamler and I agree that the proposed system would be vastly preferable and clearer, both for our staff and our members.

I just attached two PDF documents to the original topic post for your reading pleasure. One gives example of Monthly while the other is an overview of how Quarterly would function. Check them out and let me know your thoughts, concerns, or other ideas.

We are planning on implementing installments for our next dues cycle which begin December 1st. Is it possible this may be ready by then? Will this also accommodate different amounts for different schedules? (ie. 12monthly payment are $17total $204 for the year, 4 quarterly payments are $58 total $192 for the year? Will is also accommodate prorating through out the year for new memberships? Since our membership cycle runs from Jan - Dec It would be good to also be able to prorate by month instead of day. If I have a member sign up today, his dues are calculated beginning next month. Signup in Nov pay for Dec only. Sign up in Mar pay for April through Dec. That way we are not dealing with these small amounts of $0.4931 per day just a dollar amount per month. Also, if group dues could be setup as part of the regular dues instead of an after thought the way it is now that would be good. Group dues is way to restrictive. It cannot be prorated correct?

Denis,
I am in the process of gathering requirements for this update. We have current projects under way that take priority. While I cannot definitively state the release date I will state that, in my opinion, with current projects I cannot see us getting this through coding and testing before the end of the year.
This update will support a pro-rated membership but not in the way you need. The membership duration is from either date renewed or previous expiration however I believe what you are experiencing with these small amounts is something we plan addressing within the update. Currently, the calculation is down the number of seconds in the membership duration. This was done to account for membership durations that were for a number of days rather than monthly or annually. We find this causes issues with rounding and while we have addressed these in code fixes it has not resolved the bigger issue with these small amounts that you are encountering.
If you could give me an example an invoice I can dive in and determine if our update will address these small amounts.
In regards to Group Dues can you provide a support ticket to where I can investigate it or email me directly if needed.

We also don't use YM for payment plans but handle manual outside the system because we require 3 installments paid in the first 3 months of their 12 month membership. This way, they don't gain access to benefits for too long if they end up defaulting on payments and having their membership cancelled. It's great to hear of the improvements you have on the table, but wanted to add this scenarios in case if can be considered. Also, we limit payment plans to CC only and I believe YM allows check/cash as an option.

Thank you for the feedback. In regards to your manual process we already account for installments that are not paid up-to-date. We have a process that runs nightly to determine if the amount paid thus far is equal to or greater than what should have been paid thus far. If not, the member is marked as Suspended and they will be unable to access any member-specific content. Does this nightly process not work for your scenario? You are correct in that admins can allow non real-time payments for installments as the payment options are linked to the type of invoice and not at the Membership level. At this time we do not have any future updates to have payment options linked to specific memberships. We allowed this for customers who do not have real-time payments.

Brian, I have a question regarding setting up monthly installments. We do use it for credit card monthly and it works great if you set it up on the front-end when it give you that payment option. However, I have a few members who had an invoice created and now wants to do credit card monthly payments. When you paste the payment url into another browser or tab, I do not always receive that option to change the payment amount, to select monthly installments and to include a credit card payment to trigger the automatic deductions. Payment Amount * $520.00 (no option to change) Payment Type Credit Card Now I have to do it manually on the back-end and remember to do it on a monthly basis. Any idea on how to do a work around this or is an enhancement in the works? I love sharing payment urls with our members/attendees/secretaries because it allows them to include their credit card numbers and not me. Thank you for that feature. I also love that I can send someone, like a secretary, a receipt when a payment is being processed or through the store or membership transaction page.

Leisa, For the installment option to be available after the invoice is created the field that contains the number of installments must be greater than 1. This field is not visible in the UI. It is set at the time the invoice is created. Frontend invoices always set this according to what payment option is selected by the member. Backend invoices may not have this value set to any number greater than 1, however, we fixed this issue in the August 19th release. The fix was to set this field to the number of installments. This gives the frontend member the option to pay full amount or pay installment. If the invoices in question were created after August 19th please let me know as we may have a scenario in which the field does not get set properly. If these invoices were created prior to August 19th we do not have a way to update them to be installment based. I can look into them if you want to send me examples (bweaver@yourmembership.com). We can always update the invoice via the database directly but that involves pulling a developer off the current project. We may be able to try this route for one of your invoices to see if it solves the issue. I am more than willing to include this kind of update in the discussion. I believe in giving our admins the ability to handle these types of scenarios without needing advanced support. With this installment schedule update would it be acceptable to allow the admin to create an installment schedule for an invoice that was not setup to be installment-based? The admin would need to create each installment date manually as the calculation to create the schedule would have already been bypassed at this point. I look forward to hearing from you.
