Membership Installment Schedule

It is time to update our installment feature for paying dues. We have had our share of support tickets where the installment seemed to be behind based on the next installment date displayed to both the user and the site administrator. When the member's installments fell behind they experienced several installment payments within days of each other rather than one lump sum to get back on schedule.

What if we had an installment schedule that was calculated at the time of registration or renewal, displayed to the member and site administrator and was editable by the site administrator? This would give our site administrators control of when the installment was processed. The Membership would have a setting to determine the schedule and only one-off edits would be needed by the admin.

Members would be able to review the scheduled during registration and at any time on the Membership Information page.

Share your thoughts.. I look forward to hearing from you.

My membership has begun to use installments quite often. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent on the phone trying to explain that the installments are not monthly but rather 10 installments (an arbitrary number) split between the moment of renewal and our expiration date (which is the same for all folks). Monthly installments would be great. I hope this fix will also address the issue where individuals are not able to fix their credit card information after the installment fails. This is becoming a major issue for a growing number of folks who are on installments (in that they can only pay the remaining balance).

This seems to be a vast improvement. We offer quarterly installments for dues and I have had to run them manually due to the very odd way YM's system worked. It sounds like this may work for us for next year, assuming the first quarterly payment would be processed immediately, with the ability to adjust the dates of the following 3 payments to our published schedule of 10/15, 1/15 and 4/15. Am I reading that correctly?

You are absolutely reading this correctly. This idea would be to let you define your quarterly dates when selecting this option. When the member signs up or renews they would get this schedule and you could report on the future payments as these will be scheduled rather than how they are now.

Great feedback. Thanks.

I agree the current solution is difficult to understand, explain to a member, and even correct when something arises that needs attention.

This proposed update will be very clear as to what payments will be processed or when they are due if not using real-time payment methods.

In regards to not being able to update the CC info this was addressed in the July 22nd release. The member has the option to Update Info, Payment Installment (which would update info as well), or pay the balance.

Please let me know if your members are still unable to update CC information for an installment membership invoice and I will look into it.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I didn't read through all the replies, but our installment works like this: Pay half immediately, pay other half in 60 days. YM currently can't accommodate this so we do it manually. Will the updates accommodate our schedule? Thanks.
