Allow admins to change the field label for profile fields The idea states the Organization field is the target field but are there other fields in the profile that you would like control as to the label text? Is it expected this label will carry over to any and all exports?

Changing field labels is useful when there are language and cultural differences (even in variants of the English language). Americans say "Cell Phones", Australians say "Mobile Phones". Americans say "Zip Codes" (and they are 5-digits long), Australians "Postcodes" (4-digits long). Americans spell "Organization", English and Australians spell "Organisation".

Having said that, this is not a strong view. We have followers from 170 countries (and in future we will have site ADMINS working in many of them)... so translation widgets are more favored by us. The Google 'every page translation' widget we currently use on our own site did not carry over to the SocialLink site (which is disappointing).

Ability to translate everything is more important than ability to change labels (since translation would change it all?).

I would say that providing admins with the ability to make adjustments to nearly all the YM hardcoded fields would be ideal. Many organizations have small quirks and items that they want to customize. However if that is not possible a few key ones for me include:

-Organization
-Title
-Address Cont.
-Postal Code
-LOCATION - This one drives me a bit nuts.. Opposite of Mr. Duncanson, we need this to clearly say "State" it causes *rampant* confusion among our members and it's appears everywhereeeee.

I'll also throw in a last two cents that it would be ideal if we could have our custom fields appear in the listing wherever we see fit rather than having to have them after the hard coded fields. That way if you have an admin that creates a custom field work around they can put in the right place. We did that for "title" because we needed specific options, wording and drop-downs for that which the hard coded option could not provide. It would prefer it go after or before "name" but instead have it put it somewhere in the middle of personal information, it's a little awkward.

Quite frankly, the label "Organization" (meaning employer) confuses many of our members who often put the name of OUR organization in the space instead of the name of their employer. It makes a huge difference for us.

Location causes a huge problem for us, too. Location? I cannot tell you how many emails I receive asking what that means.

@Heather, Thanks for the follow-up tip on changing the label setting for "location" once the country has been selected. To be honest though that doesn't quite solve the issue if you're a US based org. Of course YM has to cater to organizations of international scope, so it's hard to please all, but having the label change once the country is selected is still awkward. My members have no idea they need to select the country first to see that "location" changes to "state" and then it all makes sense. Since we're US only and they don't know what an AMS is ;) they don't know there might be quirks to the system like that which need to meet the needs of 4,000 various customers. So I still think being able to control the core name of that label overall at all times would be the best solution for admins so they can customize to their needs. 

Seconding others, the ability to rename all hard-coded fields would be extremely useful. Besides cutting down on member confusion ("Location," etc.) it would make exports much cleaner. As customizable as custom reports are, I still have to waste time removing the "Member/Non-Member - " and "Custom Field - " prefixes from everything.

I support the ability to rename any all 'hard-coded' fields, and Leah's suggestion to allow us to change to 'sort / order' of fields on an overall basis.   I would add that it would be nice to be able to add 'sub-headings' between groupings of fields to help structure the data - something like the headings that can be added on custom forms.

Yes! The sorting of fields would be awesome, as well as the sub-heading idea. And to be able to rename the hard coded fields would be great -
