Denis,

We are currently working on a project for Member Engagement and just finished up the Event setup update. An update to the Accounting module is slated to be our next focus however it currently does not include the update to the installment feature. I am trying to peel off items from the installlment process so that it can be completed in stages while providing an incremently better user experience.

If you were to choose a 'quick win' in regards to the installment feature what would that look like?  Is having a schedule that can be changed by an admin on a member by member basis a good, first update? Even if the schedule was still the system driven calculation that sometimes results in odd payment schedules..

Share your thoughts on the biggest pain point with installments or if you are currently not using them because of how they work.

Thanks Denis.

Brian,
1. Yes having a schedule that can be changed by an admin on a member by member basis is a good, first update.
2. Also being able to give members a choice as to whether they want to automatically have the dues taken out of their Credit card or checking account or coming back an doing it manually.
The more transparent we can make this process for our members the better. The installment payment system is very mysterious and is not presented very clearly.
3. The aging report does not reflect when the next payment is due either. Shouldn't it use when the next payment is due and not the invoice date? It is a bit flawed for use with installments.
Thank you
Denis

Brian,
We do installment payments for US membership only. The problem we are having is if someone pays April 13 for their membership which was originally due January 1 and chooses installments, there is no way to set them to 4 installments within 2016. YM will allow them the 4 installments but then 2016's last installment goes into 2017 for the last payment and by then you are waiting for them to renew for 2017. It would be great if we could change the scheduled installment dates on the backend. Then when they pay late and want the installments, we can still get them back on track.

Hi Susan,

Phase two of the installment update will allow the admin to choose from multiple options.

The member will be able to select the best schedule that fits their ability to pay.

Brian,
This is awesome!! Looking forward to it.
Please add the capability for members to view what Account Type and account# (Last 4 digits) is being used for the installments also. Adding them as columns in the "View Installment Schedule" would be a great place to put it.

Hi Brian, I see that this is an old thread but wanted to second the idea of using a quarter (installment-like) schedule for prorating. If there's development of this thought spur in another thread, please let me know!

Hi, Thanks for the feedback. This update has not received any attention or traction in a while. We have not put any more thought into it. The best way for us to gain an understanding of the need is to place it in the Idea Box and let admins vote on it. It may be in the Idea Box already.
