Master Accounts Should Be on Top of "Directory Search Results"
Problem: When you use the Quick Search there is (so far as I know) no way to sort to find master accounts that meet your query. This is particularly frustrating when you're searching by company name for an organization with dozens or hundreds of subaccounts. To find the company account, I have to either know the name of the primary contact or (if I don't) literally do CTRL+F search for "Master." Suggested Solution: Add "Is Master Account" as a column option to the customizable columns on the Directory Search Results page. This was in effect before the (otherwise excellent) update was added that let you configure the columns.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for the suggestion. I did some digging into the previous version of the Search Results page and the only difference in how we display Master Accounts now from before is that we actually show the word "Master" instead of a Star icon next to the Display Name. Usually the quickest indicator would be the Display Name column showing the company's name instead of the employee's name - and then of course the "Master" flag to the right of that.

This is the first time I've heard this specific request, so it might not make its way to the top of a priority list any time soon, but definitely keep letting us know about features or functionality you'd like to see added to the software!

Thanks,
Chelsea

Hi Chelsea!

I am 100% sure that the directory search did previously show master accounts at the top (though perhaps this was only if you searched by organization name).

Again, the frustration is that some member organizations have *hundreds* of employees, which makes hard to find the company account if you only know the company name.

Hi Tom, we made the organisation a separate member type - and the master account. We then have two further member types as sub accounts - primary member (one person) and member (all the rest).

We use separate member types for companies and employees as well, though I hadn't considered a third one for primary members and I like that idea!

I'm not seeing how that would affect Quick Searches by organization name. Am I missing something?

It wouldn't necessarily make too much of a difference for the Quick Search, however, by using different Member Types you can control the Display Name format for the members who appear in the search. For example, your Org members should be displaying the Company Name within the "Display Name" column, while the Individual members would display their First/Last names instead.

Hi Chelsea,

Would it be possible to chat about this on the phone or on Teams/Zoom? I think this would be easier/more secure with screenshares.

Hi Tom, at this time, the Product Team isn't available for 1on1 calls regarding feedback or enhancement requests. If you have additional questions or need assistance with the current functionality though, we would recommend submitting a ticket so that Support can schedule a call with you and setup a screen share.

Thanks, Chelsea.

While I still feel this feature should be implemented, J. Capper gave me an idea for a partial solution that I hadn't realized. As it happens, most of our organization types begin with "A," so sorting by member type basically accomplishes what I want with a single extra click.
