Custom Query/Report Builder

I can't be the only user who finds the Custom Query/Report Builder so difficult to use that it's totally worthless.

I *thought* I saw something in the last <30 days that indicated a new & improved query function is on the way. Did anyone else see that? Can you point me in a direction? Am I dreaming?

Thanks!

Veronica,

I mentioned it in my initial email when I introduced myself. I have been gathering requirements for updating the reporting system. The UI will be updated but the underlying data structure will also be updated. The thought is to let the user start with beginning reports that are specific.

For example, we may have reports that total revenue per active Event. To only get the totals for your specific event or events you would only need to add a condition for the event name or names.

In addition to UI updates I am going through the reporting system to determine what fields we need to add. I find it difficult to get a total of store orders as I have to run the report with all invoice item types and then determine the best field to aggregrate.

We can make this better and we will.

I welcome any feedback you want to provide. Please feel free to email me directly.

Thanks,

Veronica, you are definitely NOT the only one who finds the Query building anything but intuitive.

Let me add that for years I developed complex database applications using, among other things, MS Access.  This system still baffles me.

Thanks for bringing it up.

Same here, I find it complicated and frustrating at times.

We really need the ability to write a report that pulls members who attended a specific event but have not registered for another specific event (e.g., convention one year but not another) and allows bulk emailing from the report results.

Hopefully, things have improved since the beginning of this post. I am trying to capture member journeys by running a query and generate a message based on the # of days since they joined (eg. 1, 7, 15, etc.) without the date being a fixed variable.

I've not found it to have improved. We no longer use any reports because it is simply too hard to create them.
